As the team at Mahogany Hill Weddings gears up to kickoff the Spring wedding season, we have continued to reflect on some of cherished couples from 2023. Christina and Christian’s late Fall wedding at the Lakeside at Welch Estate showcased so many unique elements of their beautiful relationship, and we couldn't possibly let Heart Month pass us by without commemorating their love story.
One of the most wonderful things about working in the wedding industry is to be able to help our loved ones on their special day. Our lead planner, Lelia, was honored to work closely with Christina - a former co-worker! Rolling through the hills of Powhatan is Lakeside at Welch Estate, and that is where our couple exchanged vows amidst the people they cherished most. Rich Fall tones, soft boho elements, and stunning classic details appeared amidst the warmth of this group.
Christina and Christian were blessed with perfect sunset portraits together and with their beloved fur-babies Jonah and Bo! Their talented photographer Katelyn Hice captured the day’s joy during raucous bridal party outbursts, heartfelt embraces and tender familial love.
There was no shortage of individual touches at this wedding! The couple originally met at a car show in Georgia in 2014, so of course they had to get some photos together with Christian’s classic car. Christina pulled in the best boho chic elements including a large macrame hanging for the arbor and antique rugs lining the aisle. Coach Christian was even caught on the dance floor with some of his students!
Mahogany Hill Weddings offers a day-of-coordination service which is tailored to transition couples from the planning stage into the execution stage. Treating our couples as VIPs at their own party is our specialty! This is what Christina said about bringing MHW into her special day:
“So much stress was alleviated from me having Lelia from Mahogany Hill. She ensured everything was running smoothly and kept everyone on track with the schedule. If I had a problem with anything, she was on it. She even made sure I ate (I’m terrible about eating at weddings lol). Knowing you have that one person to go to to take care of things for you when you feel overwhelmed or stressed out is a HUGE relief. They ensured I was taken care of. If I had any questions about anything, Lelia would have the answer.. or find out the answer for me.”

Each vendor played a pivotal role in bringing Christina and Christian’s vision to life. We were so grateful to work with some of their friends!
There were so many special memories made on C + C’s wedding day. We loved watching the couple pose on the estate’s grounds for Golden Hour portraits, the perfect lighting over a scrumptious dessert bar, and all of their friends dancing the night away, enjoying s’mores and cigars by the fire pit.
“My favorite moment about our wedding day (besides getting married to my best friend) was seeing our vision come to light and having everyone we love have such a good time,” said Christina.
Signing off with some perfect lyrics from Christina’s processional music - ‘When all I can taste is this moment, and all I can breathe is your life. And sooner or later it’s over, I just don’t want to miss you tonight.’
