Mediterranean Inspired Styled Wedding Editorial

March 9th, 2021

Our first Content Day event was a huge success! This project was focused on all of the glorious elements of an intimate, backyard wedding - with an homage to Mediterranean style! I am SO proud and excited to share these images - after the intense amount of hard work invested into this project, I couldn't wait to get this post up. A huge thank you to my brilliant partner in creativity, Mariah Martin, for lending her wordsmith skills to describe the inspiration and style of this day. I hope you enjoy!

The Spanish Revival style of 1000 Westover at Maymont guided our design direction. Rich terracotta tiles and original hardwoods ground the gorgeous space and sleek stucco arches bring an airy brightness. Elegance abounds with dramatic stairways, a colorful gourmet kitchen, and open courtyards.

Alfresco dining was a must so we created an intimate feast table overflowing with delicious charcuterie, crudite, and antipasto. The use of warm, rich textures in the live edge wood runner brings depth to the display. The conversations, toasts, and well wishes flow along as glasses overflow with wine. The table settings have the kind of low maintenance beauty you’d expect from an elevated Mediterranean backyard setting.

For dessert we just had to take advantage of the gorgeous gourmet kitchen at the venue. The bold teal cabinets and warm butcher block countertops are the backdrop to an overflowing cake and treat display. We embraced rich, bright flavors like citrus & fig for the treats. The cake itself is a work of art with a spanish tile pattern in bright colors.

The ceremony space takes advantage of the architecture of the venue. The idea of fresh fruit growing in Mediterranean backyards inspired us to bring in dried citrus as a garland accent to the white stucco arches at the front of the building. With that dramatic backdrop we kept the seating minimal and let the space speak for itself.

For the lounge we imagined the couples sharing a moment after the ceremony to reflect on their vows and share in the excitement. We wanted this cozy, intimate space to feel like a welcome spot to sit and sip a glass of wine and catch up with old friends and family. This space would absolutely evolve through the evening; a spot to hear a nugget of marriage wisdom from a parent before dinner, or continue the festivities with friends after everyone else has gone home.

In a twist on typical wedding attire, we decided to focus on masculine style. We wanted to showcase how a dapper suit can and should be the motus operandi for the modern wedding. Sophisticated and dashing suiting brings a classy vibe to an otherwise informal backyard elopement. Welcome to the most posh mediterranean garden wedding you’ve ever attended.

Cheers to the incredible team that brought this together and I truly could not have done it without the support of my co-planner, Mariah and the countless hours we both put into making this dream come true!
